PANAJI: Revolutionary Goans candidate from Mayem, Shrikrishna Parab urged the BJP government to stop striving to divide votes but make Goa a self-sufficient state. He reminded the government of its dream of making the state self-sufficient while fields continue to be destroyed.
Parab highlighted that these bandhs at Thikazan are damaged and hence the water is entering the field in Vainguinim, Mayem. It is the responsibility of the Khazan Committee and the Water Resources Department to investigate this matter. This saline water is affecting the farmers whose field and crop is being destroyed.
“The canal has been damaged for the last two years submerging the fields. The farmers informed RG that they have not yet received the compensation for the loss of their crops in 2019. It is the responsibility of the Khazan committee to fix these bandhs which are not being done and hence this flooding of water is leading to a lot of inconvenience to the farmers,” said Parab.
“Every time the government alleges that our youth in Goa are only looking for government jobs and not interested in cultivating fields. The government is unable to understand the real reasons why the youth are not taking up agriculture today. The MLA’s never reach out to the people whose fields are not being cultivated to finds out the reason or inspect their fields. The only visit these fields and barren land when they want to buy it and convert. The government also thinks that if they provide people with fertilizers fields will be cultivated,” pointed our Parab.
RG’s manifesto will outline the appropriate schemes for agriculture and as soon as the government is formed, these schemes will be fully implemented.
“The younger generation will be trained on carrying out agriculture effectively and efficiently. Agriculture will be promoted without destroying the agricultural land in the village of Goa,” signed off Parab.
