PANAJI: After the public interest litigation petitioners in the Covid 19 case
objected to the entry of being permitted into the state to persons on the basis of Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT).
The petitioners informed the HC that the state government has permitted entry into the state on the basis of Rapid Antigen Tests. The advocate representing the petitioners argued that RAT could only be used in certain cases. Due to low accuracy in test results. At the peak of Covid 19, the testing labs were under tremendous pressure but now as the covid numbers have dropped hence the state should insist on RT_PCR.
But the Advocate General Devidas Pangam told the court as the situation is getting better Why should the state insist on RT-PCR?
But the bench has said if the expert committee, is warning on the third wave then strict measures need to be taken and RT-PCR can be insisted. Hence the state government has to consider the views of the expert committee.
The state has submitted to the high court that RAT reports are approved by ICMR, and the RAT reports do not violate the HC order.
