Office of the Secretary (Revenue)/ Member Secretary (SEC & SDMA) Government of Goa has issued an order directing the municipalities and panchayats to monitor COVID19 positive patients.
“Patients who are COVID positive and are under home isolation need to be monitored for their strict isolation to avoid the spread of infection. Panchayats/Municipal bodies are requested to monitor these persons for ensuring the same,” says the order.
It further says the list will be shared by the respective health officers from the Directorate of Health Services.
“Panchayats/Municipal bodies may also provide support to these persons with regard to the provisions of medicine/food or any other items, as required by them, and may also help to provide them ambulance support in case they need for medical support or hospitalization,” the order says.
Further, it says, A special care must be taken to ensure confidentiality of the patients details to prevent any social stigma or ostracization.
“Panchayats/Municipal bodies may also ensure that the orders under Section 144 CrPC, 1973 issued by the Collectors are being adhered to and those establishments which have been directed for closure do not open their establishments,” the secretary states.
The order says they may take the support of the local police for the same in coordination with the Dy. Collectors, who may also be informed in case of violation or non-compliance of orders under section 144 of the CrPC.
