Maharashtra minister Sanjay Rathod, facing flak from the opposition BJP after being linked to a woman’s death, Sunday resigned from the state cabinet. Rathod made the announcement after submitting his resignation to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who is also the president of his Shiv Sena party.
Sanjay Rathod told the media “There is a lot of dirty politics over the issue of the woman’s death, and has quit so that the truth can come out”.
The woman named Pooja Chavan, a native of Maharashtra’s Beed district, had been living in Pune with her brother and his friends to pursue an English-speaking course. The police said the woman allegedly died by suicide on February 8. Soon after her death, an audio clip surfaced on social media in which two men are talking about the woman’s death. The BJP claims one of the men in the audio clip is Rathod. but there is no complaint by the woman’s family has not filed a complaint about her death.
